Honesty

"God our Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, are beings of absolute, perfect, and complete honesty and truth. We are sons and daughters of God. Our destiny is to become like Him. We seek to be perfectly honest and true like our Father and His Son. Honesty describes the character of God, and therefore honesty is at the very heart of our spiritual growth and spiritual gifts. Honesty, integrity, and truth are eternal principles that significantly shape our experience in mortality and help determine our eternal destiny. For a disciple of Christ, honesty is at the very heart of spirituality."

There is strength in diversity

There is strength even in our very diversity.  But there is greater strength in the God-given mandate to each of us to work for the uplift and blessing of all His sons and daughters, regardless of their ethnic or national origin or other differences.  (President Gordon B. Hinckley, Teachings of Gordon B. Hinckley, p 664)

Be different from other men.

...men who bear God's holy priesthood should be different from other men.  Men who hold the priesthood are not inherently better than other men, but they should act differently.  Men who hold the priesthood should not only receive priesthood authority but also become worthy and faithful conduits of God's power.  (Elder David A Bednar, The Powers of Heaven, General Conference, April 2012)

The power of the scriptures

Yea, we see that whosoever will may lay hold upon the word of God, which is quick and powerful, which shall divide asunder all the cunning and the snares and the wiles of the devil, and lead the man of Christ in a strait and narrow course across that everlasting gulf of misery which is prepared to engulf the wicked-- And land their souls, yea, their immortal souls, at the right hand of God in the kingdom of heaven, to sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and with Jacob, and with all our holy fathers, to go no more out.  Helaman 3: 29-30

The Scriptures

[The scriptures] are the greatest library to be found in all the world.  What does it contain?  It contains what your Father and mine has thought of enough importance to preserve and give to the children of men and make accessible in many languages of the world. (President George Albert Smith, General Conference Report, Oct 1948, 164)

God is interested in us.

It is a wonderful blessing that we enjoy in these times of stress and uncertainty to feel sure of divine guidance, to have absolute faith in a personal God who is interested in us and who hears and answers our prayers.  (President George Albert Smith, General Conference, Oct 1946)

The Foundation of Faith

It is never too late to strengthen the foundation of faith.  There is always time.  With faith in the Savior, you can repent and plead for forgiveness.  There is someone you can forgive.  There is someone you can thank.  There is someone you can serve and lift.  You can do it wherever you are and however alone and deserted you may feel.  (President Henry B. Eyring, Mountains to Climb, General Conference, April 2012)

Where are your thoughts and intents of the heart?

For how knoweth a man the master... who is a stranger unto him, and is far from the thoughts and intents of his heart?  Mosiah 5:13

Sticks and stones (or arrows)

But as many as there were who did not believe in the words of Samuel were angry with him; and they cast stones at him upon the wall, and also many shot arrows at him as he stood upon the wall; but the Spirit of the Lord was with him, insomuch that they could not him him with their stones neither with their arrows. (Helaman 16: 2).  Why did this inspire me today?  Made me think of the saying, sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me.  God can protect us both from angry and hurtful words as well as the stones and arrows (sticks) that are thrown at us.  There truly is no reason to not rely on Him for everything!
